Diddy is keen to take the witness stand in his upcoming sex trafficking and racketeering trial, according to his lawyer.
Speaking to TMZ as part of the outlet’s new Tubi documentary The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment, the Bad Boy boss’ attorney Marc Agnifilo said he expects his client to put himself on the hot seat and testify in an attempt to clear his name.

“I don’t know that I can keep him off the stand. I think he is very eager to tell his story and I think he will tell every part of his story, including what you see on the video,” Agnifilo said. “I expect it’s going to be explained by the both of us.”
The video he was referring to was the shocking footage of Diddy brutally assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel in 2016, which leaked earlier this year and prompted an apology from the mogul who had initially denied her allegations of abuse.

Agnifilo didn’t appear concerned about his client being cross-examined about the shocking incident, nor other explosive allegations such as forcing women to have sex with male prostitutes and ordering Kid Cudi’s car to be blown up for dating Cassie.
“He has his story, and he has a story that I think only he can tell in the way he can tell it in real time,” the lawyer added. “It’s a humana story. It’s a story of love, it’s a story of hurt, it’s a story of heartbreak.

“I mean, when he describes that relationship, the word he uses more than any other word is ‘heartbreak.’ He was heartbroken, she was heartbroken.”
Agnifilo’s comments echo those he made during Diddy’s unsuccessful bail appeal hearing last week, in which he attempted to paint Cassie’s assault as a lovers’ tiff.

The attorney claimed that the violent incident was sparked by Cassie going through Diddy’s phone when he was asleep and discovering that he was cheating on her, per the court transcript.
The singer then allegedly threw the phone at her boyfriend’s head and stormed out of the hotel room, taking a bag of his clothes with her.
“This is a 10-year relationship,” Agnifilo said. “These two people were in love. That will be made abundantly clear by the way they speak toeach other, by the way other witnesses described their time together, and by the circumstances of how they broke up.”
He added: “At the end of the day, there was mutual philandering, and [Cassie] ended up marrying the trainer that [Diddy] got for her, and had two children. That signaled the end of the relationship.”

Prosecutors argued that Diddy attacked Cassie because she was trying to flee one of his “freak off” sex sessions, and later attempted to cover it up by bribing the hotel with help of his associates.
The 54-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the charges and will remain in jail without bail until trial.
