Busta Rhymes, Meek Mill & Questlove React To Controversial Execution Of Missouri Inmate

Busta Rhymes, Meek Mill and Questlove have all weighed in on the execution of Marcellus Williams by the state of Missouri, and they all have heavy hearts.

Williams was killed on Tuesday (September 24) after the Supreme Court declined to intervene. Williams was convicted of a 1998 murder, but always maintained his innocence. Post-conviction, both the prosecutor and the viMctim’s family gave their blessing to an agreement that would have spared Williams’ life — one that was overruled by the Missouri Supreme Court.

No DNA evidence ever linked Williams to the murder (the DNA on the murder weapon was “spoiled“), and there was alleged bias in jury selection, with the prosecutor admitting that he removed one Black potential juror from the case because, according to the Associated Press, the man “looked too much” like Williams.

Busta posted about the execution on Instagram, including both a photo of Williams and a copy of his last statement (“All Praise Be To Allah In Every Situation!!!”)

“An Unfathomable Travesty has transpired today with the Death of an Innocent Man,” he captioned the post. “You didn’t get your Justice here so make sure you serve your Justice from where you are Almighty.”

Meek quoted some of his own lyrics, from his 2015 track “Ambitionz”: “Holding, never folding, we was on the top tier/ Shackled to our ankles it was like a nightmare.”

Questlove pointed out that Missouri governor Mike Parson had pardoned a couple who pointed guns at protestors back in 2021, but refused to do the same for Williams.

“I wrote like 11 drafts & …….,” Quest added in the caption.

Meek has had a busy few days on social media, sending off a series of posts the day before Williams’ state execution where he offered $100,000 to any detective who can prove that he was not involved with Diddy‘s alleged “freak off” parties.

Following rampant rumors that Meek had slept with the Bad Boy boss, as claimed in producer Lil Rod’s sexual assault lawsuit against the mogul, the Philadelphia rapper appears intent on clearing his name.

In a couple of bizarre posts on X (formerly Twitter), Meek offered a large sum of money to prove he has nothing to do with Diddy’s sex trafficking and racketeering case.

He wrote: “I wanna hire an investigative team 100k cash to find out every specific detail involving meek mill name to ‘Diddy’ Case…. I also want them to look at who is powering the media involving ‘meek’ anything to do with buddy! ‘Something not right.’”
