Kendrick Lamar Puts Stamp On Paris Fashion Week By Designing Set For Chanel Show

Kendrick Lamar‘s creative range goes far beyond rap and music, and his latest collaboration with one of the world’s best-known luxury fashion houses is evidence of that.

On Tuesday (January 23), Chanel premiered its Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture Show. The set, which featured an enormous jewel button with the company logo hovering over the circular walkway, was designed by the Compton native along with Dave Free and Mike Carson.

The “King Kunta” hitmaker even took to his burner account on Instagram to share behind-the-scenes shots of the event plus the fit he had on during the show. In the caption, he wrote: “no bunk skunk. dave ghetto scorsese. hand shakes n hugs to pg lang. on kenzel Washington.”

Last week, Chanel released a mini-movie starring Margaret Qualley and soundtracked by Lamar to stir up anticipation for the show.

“At the invitation of Virginie Viard, Kendrick Lamar and creative partner Dave Free meet the world of CHANEL Haute Couture for the first time, bringing to life a story about time and transmission,” a statement by pgLang said about the video.

“Actress and House ambassador Margaret Qualley plunges us into the tale ‘The Button’ alongside actress and House ambassador Anna Mouglalis, as well as friend of the House Naomi Campbell.”

The Los Angeles rapper, Campbell, Qualley and South Korean pop star Jennie Kim were among those named as 2023’s “ambassadors and friends of the house.” To celebrate the moment, the fashion giant shared group portraits of the stars on Instagram over the summer.

For the photoshoot, Lamar offered a wide smile, revealing a diamond-studded tooth. For the second flick, however, he decided to give his appearance a tamer touch.
