Kid Cudi Axes ‘Man On The Moon III’ Deluxe

Kid Cudi had a soul-crushing announcement for his die-hard fans on Monday morning (May 17). According to a pair of tweets, the G.O.O.D. Music artist has decided not to proceed with a deluxe version of Man On The Moon III: The Chosen. Instead, he’s chosen to concentrate on his forthcoming project Entergalactic while focusing on an accompanying animated Netflix series with black-ish director Kenya Barris.

“Im sorry yall but im not doin a deluxe of motm3,” he tweeted. “Ive decided to start workin on new material and the shit is madness!! Cant wait for yall to hear!! Arghhhh!!! The snippet I released is for something special im doin. Ull see very soon.”

Recorded the first season and couldn’t be more hyped for yall to see. Ur gonna be blown away. Next level shit only. Changing the game as always.”

He added, “Got some other magical shit in the chamber comin soon!! A lots happening. Stay fuckin tuned baby.”

Released via Republic Records in December 2020, Man On The Moon III: The Chosen served as Kid Cudi’s seventh studio album and follow-up to 2010’s MOTM II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. The 18-track effort was produced primarily by Cudi himself and Dot da Genius, along with Plain Pat, Emile Haynie and Mike Dean, all of whom contributed to the previous two MOTM albums. Guest vocals include Phoebe Bridgers, the late Pop Smoke, Skepta and Trippie Redd.

MOTM III debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with over 144,000 total album-equivalent units sold in its opening week, becoming Cudi’s fifth Top 10 album in the process.
